Refilling is pretty straightforward, similar to most fluid lighters. They send good instructions. Maintenance isn't too bad, just gotta keep an eye on the flint and wick, which is normal for any fluid lighter really.

Mine's an EDC and it's fine. Refills aren't a chore. Just make sure you get the right fluid and flints. It's built like a tank so daily use is no issue.

Totally different league than a Zippo. More comparable to Dupont for build quality and mechanism, but with its own unique feel. The claw ignition is super satisfying.

For EDC, it's a bit much for me, but the engineering is beautiful. If you're into mechanical things and history, yeah, it's worth it. Dupont is more flashy, Thorens feels more understated quality.
